CHARLESTON, S.C. -Local real estate law firm Buist, Byars & Taylor, LLC has been named a 2006 Regional Small Business of the Year for Charleston businesses headquartered east of the Cooper. The award, sponsored by the Joint Area Business Council and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, recognizes the firm’s contributions to Charleston’s civic and business communities as well as their innovation, distinctive business practices and leadership.
Three other Charleston businesses representing various regions of Charleston were honored. To be nominated, companies had to employ fewer than 75 people, be based in Charleston and have been in business before Jan. 1, 2004.

As a regional award recipient the firm is automatically entered into the statewide Small Business of the Year contest whereby winners will be announced on June 16.
