With overwhelming shock and sorrow, we regret to announce the untimely death of our managing partner, Gray B. Taylor, on June 21, 2019.
Since joining Buist Byars & Taylor in 2000, Gray built the firm’s commercial real estate department, and also oversaw the business practice area. He cultivated a diverse practice encompassing all aspects of CRE development and finance, commercial lending, and real estate/land use litigation. He worked with financial institutions and private investors, and represented developers, local and national builders, and individual landowners.
He held a bachelor’s degree in natural resources from Sewanee: The University of the South, a master’s degree in forestry from Clemson University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating, as well as travel and music.
Gray was a crucial part of this firm, lending his keen insight, knowledge and experience to lead our team and in helping to achieve our client’s objectives. His sudden passing is hard to process, and he will be greatly missed by a great many. He is survived by his wife Margaret and their daughters, Emma and Eliza.
